Recriutment of University of Warsaw PhD students for "Introduction to Data Analysis" course is now open

Dear University of Warsaw Ph.D. student! Do you think you could use additional knowledge on data analysis? Do you perform analyses, but want to learn more? If so, the Warsaw School of Data Analysis is for you.


We open recruitment of University of Warsaw PhD students within the Warsaw School of Data Analysis (WSAD) project for:

  1. English-language online course Introduction to Data Analysis (30h, 4 ECTS), which starts on April 9 and runs until June 9, 2014.
    The course provides the basic knowledge needed to understand the statistical analysis of social data. Depending on the level of knowledge of the participant, we offer different educational tracks for beginners and more advanced graduate students.
    To register to the course, please submit the questionnaire at the project website. The recruitment committee will accept applications until the limit is filled. Participation in the e-course is free of charge.
  2. International Warsaw School of Data Analysis (WSAD), which will be held in the Warsaw suburban resort from July 21 to August 2, 2014.
    Each PhD student will take part in 96 hours of classes and will be eligible to get 3 to 14 ECTS credits during the summer school. To participate in the summer school, it is necessary to pass successfully the course Introduction to Data Analysis. The classes will be run by the eminent Polish specialists and foreign lecturers from Interuniversity Center for Social Science Theory and Methodology (The Netherlands), Institute for Social Research of University of Michigan (USA) and Carleton University (Canada).
    The summer school program will include workshops on data visualization (12h), structural models (24h), computer text analysis (12h), statistical packages (Statistica, SPSS, R - 6h for each), advanced analysis of linear and curvilinear regression and data clustering analysis. There are also meetings with employers looking for specialists in the field of analysis planned.
    The detailed program of the summer school as well as the registration form will be available from April 23, 2014, at the project website.
    The individuals accepted to the project will have to get the approval of their application by the director of doctoral studies in their faculty. Participation in the summer school (including the costs of accommodation and meals) is free of charge.
